OUR STORY

Learn more about what influenced us to start Mauka and our mission moving towards the future.

THE BEGINNING

It all started when two best friends from San Diego - Cooper Glenn and Karly Reeves - looked for a way to find the money to travel the world. After their first trip to Maui, Hawaii, they fell in love with the stunning waterfalls, local beaches, beautiful views, and kind people.

HOW DID MAUKA START?

Back in San Diego, Cooper and Karly went to their board of ideas and put together a way to give back to all of the things they fell in love with! That’s when it hit them, “What if we can sell bracelets that represent a community of giving, where people get to choose which charity they wish to give their money towards?” On their vacation in Hawaii, they learned the word mauka which  translates to “towards the mountains,” but they believed it was more than just a direction. They believe it is a movement that gives back to everything from the ocean to the mountains.

MAUKA'S MISSION

At Mauka, giving is essential, which is why we donate 10% of all the profits to one of two charities that you wish to choose. We are so grateful to be partners with SurfAid and One Tree Planted. The reason for these specific charities are to give back to three important causes that keep our Earth beautiful, which is people, nature, and wildlife. We’re striving to preserve the planet we live on and sustain the Mauka movement.
